Job Overview
Etihad Airways Medical Centre (EAMC) is seeking a qualified and experienced Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing support across its General, Aviation, and Occupational Health departments. The successful candidate will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, efficient, confidential, and high-quality medical services to employees, flight crew, cabin crew, and other eligible patients.
The nurse will play an important role in supporting medical fitness assessments, occupational health services, general consultations, preventive healthcare activities, and aviation-related medical examinations while ensuring that all procedures comply with applicable UAE healthcare and aviation regulations.
Key Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse will assist physicians during aviation and occupational medical assessments, including pre-employment examinations, initial and renewal medicals, and general medical consultations. Responsibilities will include recording vital signs, checking height and weight, calculating BMI, performing vision assessments, ECGs, audiograms, tympanometry, spirometry, vaccinations, and other clinical procedures required for medical fitness evaluations.
The nurse will also be responsible for accurately preparing, updating, and maintaining patient medical records while ensuring strict confidentiality. Records must comply with the requirements of the Etihad Airways Medical Centre, General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH), Occupational Safety and Health Abu Dhabi (OSHAD), and other relevant regulatory authorities. Particular attention must be given to maintaining complete medical documentation for flight and cabin crew, including vaccination records, sickness reports, and alcohol and drug screening documentation.
Another important responsibility is ensuring that all medical equipment is safe, functional, properly calibrated, and ready for clinical use. Any equipment malfunction must be reported immediately to the Nurse Manager, and defective equipment should be removed from service until it has been inspected and repaired by qualified biomedical engineers.
The nurse must maintain high standards of infection prevention and control, aseptic practice, cleanliness, and hygiene throughout the Medical Centre. Any breach of infection-control procedures should be promptly reported to the appropriate Infection Control team.
Regular checks of medical supplies will also be required. This includes daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of emergency medicines, crash-cart equipment, clinical supplies, and other essential materials to ensure adequate stock and readiness for emergencies.
The successful candidate may also participate in health education sessions, awareness campaigns, medical forums, workplace health programs, and other EAMC activities. Maintaining up-to-date competency records and contributing to the development and review of nursing policies and procedures will also form part of the role. Any incidents, occurrences, or operational variances during working hours must be properly documented and reported.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should hold a Registered Nurse (RN) qualification, supported by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Diploma in Nursing. A minimum of three years of registered nursing experience in a large hospital or medical centre is required, together with a valid UAE DOH or DHA nursing licence.
Experience in occupational health or aviation nursing will be considered an advantage. Candidates should also have at least two years of experience in chronic disease management services and hold a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate, preferably with emergency first-responder registration.
Applicants should have knowledge of aeromedical policies, occupational health requirements, and relevant DOH, GCAA, and OSHAD regulations. Strong communication, interpersonal, customer-service, problem-solving, decision-making, and teamwork skills are essential. Fluency in English and good computer literacy are also required.
