കഴിഞ്ഞ ഡിസംബറിൽ സബാഹ് അൽ-സലേമിലുള്ള ഒരു വീട്ടിലാണ് ദാരുണമായ സംഭവം നടന്നത്. രണ്ട് വയസ്സുള്ള മകനെ കാണാതായതിനെ തുടർന്ന് മാതാപിതാക്കൾ നടത്തിയ തിരച്ചിലിൽ, വീടിന്റെ മുകളിലത്തെ നിലയിലെ അലക്കുമുറിയുടെ വാതിൽ അകത്തു നിന്ന് പൂട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നതായി കണ്ടെത്തുകയായിരുന്നു. വാതിൽ തള്ളിത്തുറന്ന് അകത്ത് കയറിയ പിതാവ്, വാഷിം​ഗ് മെഷീനിൽ കുട്ടിയെ അബോധാവസ്ഥയിൽ കണ്ടെത്തുകയായിരുന്നു. ഉടൻ തന്നെ ആശുപത്രിയിൽ എത്തിച്ചെങ്കിലും കുട്ടി മരിച്ചിരുന്നതായി ഡോക്ടർമാർ സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു.

കഴിഞ്ഞ ഹിയറിംഗുകളിൽ തൻ്റെ നിരപരാധിത്വം ആവർത്തിച്ച പ്രതി, കുട്ടി ഒരു ബക്കറ്റ് വെള്ളത്തിൽ മുങ്ങിമരിച്ച നിലയിൽ കണ്ടെത്തുകയായിരുന്നുവെന്നാണ് വാദിച്ചിരുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ, എല്ലാ തെളിവുകളും, സാക്ഷിമൊഴികളും, പബ്ലിക് പ്രോസിക്യൂഷൻ്റെ കണ്ടെത്തലുകളും പരിശോധിച്ച കോടതി പ്രതിയുടെ വാദം തള്ളുകയായിരുന്നു.
